Here is a never fired Weatherby Vanguard 2 Rifle chambered in .243 Winchester caliber. Manufacturer was Howa Machinery Company Ltd of Kiyosu, Japan. Importer and warrantor is Weatherby Inc. of Paso Robles, CA, and receiver is so marked. Weatherby number is VSG243NR40, Vanguard 2 Deluxe Type is bolt action high powered rifle. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, and internal parts, with alloy trigger guard and floor plate assembly. Barrel is 24 inch Free Floating, .588 outside diameter at the muzzle; .700 osd at the forend tip; and 1.17 at the receiver. Bore 6 groove right hand 1:10 rate of twist. Magazine is internal BDL type with quick release floorplate, capacity 5 + 1 rounds. Receiver is short action, drilled at 4 points for 700 Long Action bases, furnished with gold tone filler screws. Nearest screw centers are 3.925 inches apart. Trigger is .275 serrated face adjustable, pulls two stage at 3 5/8 pounds with minimal felt creep, and with negligible overtravel. Safety is 3 position sliding type, to the right of the bolt cowl. Stock is American Walnut with black spacer and rosewood BDL type pressure tip. Length of pull measures 13 1/2 inches from the serrated face steel trigger to the end of the 1 inch factory recoil pad. Weight empty is 7 pounds 13 ounces, center of gravity at the recoil lug. Metal finish is polished surface bright blue, with white steel serrated bolt body. Stock is high gloss finish. This Weatherby comes to us from a distributor liquidation.
