W.J. Jeffery 450/400 3"

W.J. Jeffery 450/400 Nitro Express 3 inch box lock ejector double rifle SN16428. 400 grain bullet 55 grains cordite proof, 24 inch Krupp Essen chopper lump barrels with excellent bores, Doll's head third fastner, double triggers, extra heavy scalloped action, game scene engraved, supplied with an original maker's canvas case with accessories. Rifle completely refurbished by J.J. Perodeau of Champlin Firearms in 1995 and owned by me since that time. Case coloring , barrel black, and wood finish remain at 98% condition. In 1997 J.J. added claw mounts and a Schmidt & Bender 1 1/4X4 scope at my request making this an excellent choice medium-heavy weight double suited for any animal in Africa. Six shot grouping with mix of softs and solids averages under 3 inches with scope. Both scope and iron sights shoot to point of aim. Outstanding, heavily figured English walnut stock with 14 1/2 inch LOP, pistol grip, horn grip cap, checkered butt with heel and toe clips. Weight is 10 pounds 6 ounces without scope. Built in 1906 with an extra heavy action as requested by original owner means this double will stay tight and on-face for a long time. Hornady offers factory loaded ammunition as do several other manufacturers. John Taylor felt the 450/400 was the best all-round African rifle. I will guarantee that you won't find a better 450/400 Jeffery than this one.
