Seller Description
This scope is US Government military surplus. It is a pre-2010 vintage dual-illuminated TA31RCO-M4 USMC that have been scrapped by the US Military after reaching end of its service life. Due to the fiber optic and tritium these scopes are considered consumable and given a specified service life. These scopes also have the old-style prism where only the chevron and a small portion of the vertical reticle is lighted. The military had already moved to the newer style prism. The new prism can be identified by the 4 on the BDC reticle being lit. In early 2020, the Marines adopted the 1-8 VCOG. Prism replacement alone on these pre-2010 ACOG’s is $570 through Trijicon (but includes the fiber optic and tritium replacement as well). With the condition of the lenses and bodies on many of these scopes, renovating them no longer made financial sense for the military.
This scope’s serial # 188643
This is a very good condition 4x32 ACOG TA31RCO-M4 USMC model with the TA51 thumb screw mount. This scope has the Bullet Drop Compensating (BDC) reticle that is calibrated to service rifles with a 14.5” barrel. If you are not satisfied with this scope when you receive it or if it is not as I described it you can ship it back to me and I’ll refund you or send you a different scope.
Auction Bonus: If the auction price exceeds $800 I will include your choice of a Trijicon AC11030 ocular lens flip cap or a Trijicon TA64 Scopecoat!
SCOPE DESCRIPTION:
GLASS: Excellent with only a few very light scratches. Objective lens has some light scratches as well. Sight picture is perfect. See photos.
Fiber Optic: Is in good condition, clear and bright. The red chevron is bright and clear.
Tritium: It lasts 12.5 years based on its half-life. This tritium is near/at the end of its life. Holding your hand over the fiber optic and objective lens the tritium is still visible but is dim. It is also visible in a dark room, like a closet, after you let your eyes adjust to the light. While the tritium is a spiffy feature, in all honesty the fiber optic does an excellent job of collecting light. If it’s so dark the fiber optic is unable to collect enough light for you to see the reticle, then it’s too dark for you to be able to properly identify you target. Save your money and don’t worry about spending the $188 it costs to replace the tritium.
Jesus Rifle: This scope has the JN8:12 intact. This is photographed.
Notes: This scope was painted at one time. More of the paint could be removed with acetone or Goof Off. Also, it’s missing the lanyard that attaches the turret caps to the scope body. If it’s a big deal to you these can be replaced for about $20 using the Trijicon TA71 “Adjuster Caps & Lanyard”.
Warranty Details: The original limited lifetime warranty on these belonged to the US Government as the original purchaser. However, Trijicon DOES still support these scopes. Feel free to call them and discuss with their excellent Repair or Customer Service teams. Replacing the tritium is $188. They can also check the calibration, and renovate the scope to the point it’s essentially new. You direct them on how far you want to go based on how much you want to spend. Any work that you pay for the warranty is then under your name. I had the tritium and fiber optic cable replaced on one and now have a 12 year warranty on the illumination for that optic.
