This was just a mistake, the hatch (which gives access to the recoil spring) actually closes firmly, and is closed in the last few photos. The buttplate is smooth and flush, with nothing sticking out, when the hatch is snapped closed.) I'm selling one of the top firearms in my collection in order to get something I need more. This is a Steyr-Solothurn MP34 MP-34 submachine gun built as a semi-auto carbine with a barrel extension to bring it over the 16" legal length, by Mark Karvasale of Makarms, who is noted for his excellent semi-auto builds of MP34s, ZK383s, and similar World War II era submachine guns. The closed-bolt semi-auto conversion features a striker assembly made by cutting the bolt in half. Pulling the charging handle locks the striker back on the sear, while the bolt is in battery and the firing pin is retracted. When you pull the trigger, the striker flies forward under spring pressure and hits the plunger that makes the firing pin protrude, firing the cartridge. The bolt cycling back hooks the striker on the sear again, ready to fire with the next trigger pull. There is an additional trigger spring added on top to push the bolt back into battery. The original selector switch has been reworked into a safety. Since the sear pops up and hooks the bolt every time, this CANNOT be made to fire in full-auto as there is no disconnector. This is a fully functional semi-auto firearm and a great shooter. The barrel is in very good condition. This could also be turned into a short-barreled rifle by filing the appropriate ATF forms, then removing the barrel extension to return the MP34 to its original appearance and 8 inch barrel length. This MP-34 has a non-matching stock, also refinished for aesthetics by Mark. It comes with six (6) 9mm 32-round magazines and two (2) original leather magazine carriers which each hold 3 magazines. One magazine carrier is medium brown, the other black. Neither one has any markings that I can see. Both are well-worn but functional. Note that the magazines will NOT hold longer cartridges like 9mm Steyr or 7.63 Luger, etc. They will fit 9mm Luger only. Again, this is chambered in 9mm Luger (9x19mm). It is built on a high condition pre-war Steyr-Solothurn parts kit and an 80% steel receiver. I will ship this free (shipping included in price). Must ship to an FFL since this counts as a modern firearm despite being built from a 1930s parts kit. I am basically asking for this kit what I paid for it, including the parts kit, 80% receiver, and magazines and pouches. A similar firearm sold for over $4000 on Morphy Auctions this spring (LOT #3463), but this one is nicer because most of it retains the original bluing rather than being enamel painted (the new parts -- barrel extension, lower receiver -- are painted).
