The barrel finish is this Stevens Single Shot 20 gauge’s forte, with some 85 percent of its original finish remaining. Receiver has much of its original casehardened finish remaining, but it is weak. Buttstock and forend are affected on some 20-25 percent of their surface area by light scuffing or scratching, but the eye appeal of the glossy pressed-checkered finish remains. Bore is excellent, even though we have not cleaned it. Mechanism is very tight. This is the older, more desireable style single shot with the breech lever behind the hammer. The 3 inch chambered, 26 inch Modified barrel combined with the shotgun’s relatively light weight and youth-length stock make it a very attractive value for only $149.95
