Springfield Armory 1873 45/70 Cal Trapdoor Carbine

Used: U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1873 .45/70 Government Caliber Trapdoor Single-Shot Carbine, 24" blue-steel barrel, blue-steel receiver with trap-door hinged-bolt-action, blue-steel lockwork and spur hammer; steel trigger guard and trigger, folding-ladder adjustable rear sight, dovetailed blade front sight, smooth wood stock with curved steel buttplate, smooth wood forearm with steel forend cap, no cleaning rod, (2) blue-steel barrel bands, (2) sling swivels. No box, no papers. Serial number is 222579. BUYER MUST ADD 3% IF NOT PAYING WITH A CASHIER'S CHECK OR MONEY ORDER!(VPGS 19266/WZQR) Marked "U.S. Springfield" with eagle on right lockwork, "U.S. Model 1873" on top of receiver in front of trap-door bolt, "V" over "P" over symbol on top of barrel, "U.S." on top of buttplate, "U" on left side of each barrel band. Serial number 222579 on top of rear receiver. Wood has numerous stamps, all are shown in photos. We will not attempt to describe the marks on the wood, take a look at all the photos. This Springfield Armory Model 1873 is apparently a shortened rifle since Bluebook says the carbine models have 22" barrels and this one has a 24" barrel. The steel has considerable wear on the finish and the wood has many dents but no cracks. The bore is unblemished, bright and shiny. We found the bore condition to be quite surprising, appearing in pristine condition. Note: Will we take it apart for photos? No. Will we take more closeup photos of any area? No. We got as close as our camera allows and we photographed every visible mark, steel or wood.
