Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 is that it represents the “golden age” of premium American revolver craftsmanship.
Collectors tend to prefer the Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 because it sits at the transition point between the old “hand-fitted” S&W era and the more cost-efficient production methods that followed. It’s widely viewed as the last “classic” version of the Model 27.

“Pinned & recessed” features
The 27-2 is strongly associated with the famous S&W “P&R” configuration:
Pinned barrel — a transverse pin physically locks the barrel into the frame.
Recessed cylinder chambers — cartridge rims sit flush with the rear of the cylinder.

Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 N-frame revolver chambered in .38 Special. Features a blued finish, adjustable rear sight, and checkered wood grips with S&W medallions. Long-barrel configuration with classic Model 27 styling and robust lockup for smooth double-action shooting. Finish shows normal handling marks consistent with use, with no obvious major damage visible in the photo.
