Sharps, Old Reliable, .45 2 1/10, (.45-70 Government), 30" octagon bbl, barrel has a nice brown/grey patina with some pitting, has a script "Old Reliable" in an elongated octagon box along with "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT, CONN." ahead of the rear sight which is a folding ladder with graduation markings, front is a blade. The rear sight is stamped with " PATENTED FEB 15th 1859". The dropping block action has a blued finish with most of the bluing intact. "CAL 45 2 1/10" is stamped on the left side of the barrel. The serial number "C,43893" is stamped behind the action and "' PAT OCT 5TH 1853" is stamped on the right side behind the hammer. Underside of forearm has the matching serial number. "SS" is stamped on the bottom of the action and when the action is open an X can be seen stamped on the left side of the lever near the pivot point. There is also an "S" stamped on the take down lever in front of the hammer. The stock has minor blemishes with a chip (see pictures) on the top left side of the forearm (cap does not look original), and a metal butt plate. Matching serial # on the barrel under the forend.
