Seller Description
From a private collection: this is one of those wonderful Swiss K-31 carbines, the last in the line of those Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull, bolt-action rifles--and this one is in terrific condition. The wood is a rich walnut color with tiger-stripes running the length of the stock. The metal still has over 95% bluing, with no rust, pitting, or freckling. All matching numbers--bolt, receiver, magazine. Even comes with a shiny brass muzzle protector. These rifles are superb shooters and as finely made infantry rifles as I've ever seen. They have a detachable 6-round magazine and that fast--but-smooth-- straight-pull bolt design that makes them the quickest of all the bolt-action rifle designs of the Second World War (that last may be somewhat of an opinion, but I think it's justified for the most part). Those of you who follow these things will know that the supply of K-31's has mostly dried up. There are no more coming in to the country. That means they will become increasingly hard to get and more expensive--and probably not very good, to boot. If you don't have one of these in your collection already, this is a great chance to add a classic, and a classic in marvelous condition. Don't miss this chance to pick up a classic military surplus rifle in collector grade condition! (I've added some pictures of my most recent range day. Keep in mind that I am not a marksman or expert shooter. I'm what you might call a "below-average" shooter: my eyes are older and weaker, and I don't shoot very much any more. So, in looking at the pictures of the target, keep in mind that the target reflects the very worst you could do. Anyone who knows and appreciates these Swiss rifles will no doubt do much better than I, especially considering that I was using regular commercial ammo, not match grade. These rifles are known to be accurate out to 700+ yards. I'm sure this rifle could do much better than the results I produced.)
