Seller Description
Here we have one of the sweetest Mausers ever made, the Spanish FR-8, in my opinion, of course. These could have been the prototype for the currently popular "scout rifle," without the optics, of course. These rifles are light, short, and fast handling, but still shoot the all-around capable .308/7.62x51 caliber. They have a 5-round internal magazine, muzzle brake/flash hider, and the smooth and indestructible Mauser bolt action. For those who like the historical background on rifles, these were produced in Spain not too long after the end of WW 2, and were intended, I believe, primarily for their equivalent of the National Guard. They were intended as a transition from the earlier 7mm version to the NATO compatible 7.62x51 CETME. They were in service, I think, for about 10 years or so. They are a dandy little rifle, have some unique historical interest, and would make a fine addition to any military rifle collection. And at the current prices for these, are, possibly, a terrific buy. I don't see too many of these on auction any more, and this one, as you can tell from the pictures, is in really nice shape.
