Remington 20 ga 870 Old Model Wingmaster Corncob VG 1963

Here is a Remington 870 Wingmaster in the original configuration with small serrated Corn Cob type forend. Date code is A Y K, manufactured March 1963. This very nice old 20 gauge 870 Wingmaster comes to us from a local estate of one of our career soldiers, an Airman who spent most of his career at Eglin AFB in Florida, and he probably bought it locally. Chances are good as any that it came through Walter Craig in Selma, Alabama. Surface wear is only moderate. Original metal finish is very strong with the exception of the shell carrier, which has lost its chrome plating, and one or two superficially pitted spots on the barrel surface. Operation whitening to the slide bars and magazine tube are only moderate. Similarly, any weathering or handling scours to the buttstock are minimal to moderate as well, mostly concentrated on the heel area with two rack scours to the finish only on the upper pistol grip behind the receiver. We rate it as a strong Very Good, close to Excellent, specimen since no more than 15 percent of the finish is affected by age in our inspection. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Specs are pump or slide action Remington 870 Standard Weight 20 gauge, capacity 4 + 1 shells, barrel 28 inch modified plain with plain bead sight, 2 3/4 inch shells only, blue steel with walnut stock and forend. This is, of course, a standard weight 870 Wingmaster 20 gauge, currently produced barrels will not fit it.
