Remington .22 Single Shot 514 Exc 24 in Mfg. '56

We are blessed to have several former Californians here in our little county in West Tennessee, all of them assets to our community. Here is a very nice Remington 514 Single Shot that one of them brought with him. Date Code is E C, October 1956 manufacture date, and it is a one owner. This rifle is entirely original and excellent throughout. Original walnut buttstock has very strong original finish. There are three moderate weathering peels on the underside of the buttstock near the buttplate; a few small scours on the lower left side of the pistol grip area; and loss to the gloss on the under side of the forend area about 3 inches by 1 inch. Still, we rate the stock at 90 percent. Metal is similar. The only wear to the bluing is on the muzzle area of the barrel, and faint amount of whitening to the edges of the safety levers on the back of the bolt. The bolt itself has a faint amount of brownish toning, not readily conspicuous. Bore and chamber are bright, clean, and excellent. We rate this rifle as Excellent Condition, since it has 90 percent of its original finish intact by our estimate. Photos, however, should suffice for interested parties to judge finish grade for themselves.
