Here is the reincarnation of John M. Browning’s Winchester 1892 Lever Action rifle, the Rossi R92, in .357. Manufacturer is Amadeo Rossi S.A. of Sao Leopoldo, Brazil, a Taurus held company. Importer and warrantor is Braztech of Miami, also a Taurus affiliate. Type is lever action repeating rifle. Caliber chambering is .357 Remington Magnum and .38 Smith & Wesson Special interchangeably. Construction is entirely steel metal, from the muzzle to the buttplate, with walnut stained Brazilian hardwood stock and forend. Barrel is 20 inch, six groove right hand 1:30 rifling. Sights are both dovetailed, steel brass beaded front, with step elevation adjustable rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. Magazine is full length, and capacity is 10 + 1 rounds of .38 Special or .357 Magnum ammunition. Apart from the scope mount, the only other non traditional features are a bolt mounted safety lever, and an internal lock to the hammer. Each 92 is furnished with two Taurus hammer lock keys. Trigger is .275 smooth faced steel, with serrated spur .365 hammer. The 92 has a half cock position, but it does not have a lever safety; that did not come until 1894. Metal is entirely blue steel. Buttstock and forend are nicely grained Brazilian Hardwood, close to walnut as you can get. Buttplate is blue steel as well. Weight is 6 pounds empty, with center of gravity at the breech face. Length of pull is 13 inches from the trigger face to the butt plate sides. Overall length is 37 inches.
