Manufacturer and warrantor is Remington Arms of Ilion, NY. It made its debut in 2011, and discontinued at the end of 2015. Construction is Steel Lined synthetic polymer barrel and receiver, and Remington’s Exclusive ArmorLokt™ process seals the receiver and barrel in a vault of weather-impervious synthetic armor. Magazine tube, bolt, carrier, and internal parts are steel. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch, 3 inch, and 3 1/2 inch shells interchangeably. Capacity is 4+1 on 2 3/4 inch; 3 + 1 on 3 inch; and 2 + 1 on 3 1/2 inch shells. Magazine threads are the same as the 870, so any 870 extension tube will work on this 887. Barrel is 28 inches, serrated surface with solid semi-ported rib, threaded for any 12 gauge Rem-Choke tube. Tubes included are factory or Hi-Viz Extra Full (.675 to .685 muzzle diameter) Ported Turkey Tube; factory .709 muzzle Modified, and .718 stainless extended Improved Cylinder. Sight system is .350 four serration rib with green fiber optic front sight and stainless mid bead. Safety system is conventional behind-the-trigger Remington push button for right handed shooters. Buttstock length of pull is 13 3/4 inches from the .350 serrated face trigger to the end of the 1 inch recoil pad. Trigger pull is 5 pounds vicinity with moderate felt creep. This is not a southpaw friendly shotgun. Not only does the buttstock cant 1 inch to the right at the butt, the right hand cant begins at the barrel to receiver junction.
