H Pieper Combination Rifle Shotgun Patented April 23,1881 ( Side Lever Breakopen) 44-40 wcf and 12 gauge shotgun. Bores VG plus strong rifling, traces of fine pitting. Mech Excellent very tight with crisp actions. Wood VG plus with visible checkering lines , original iron buttplate, Excellent wood to metal fit. Has 30” barrels with original sights, german silver front and distinctive rear. Marked Pieper Patent April23,1881 on the rib. Marked on the forend , receiver and barrels 12 44 #20354 matching. Also has a Belgian proof marking They must have bought there barrels from Belgium. Has back action lockplates both marked H Pieper. Metal overall has a dark aged brown patina finish with the receiver having a case color turned nickel finish. Has a couple spots of very fine pitting. Fine gun
