Seller Description
Modified 1954 Chinese T53 Factory 296.
Some Chinese T53 carbines were modified by field armorers by removeing the bayonet, converting these to M38 style carbines. This is NOT one of those guns. It was modified in some ones garage work shop. The bayonet was removed and the lug ground smooth, then the muzzle was ported and counter-bored. The home made porting muzzle brake does work well and the gun is a pleasure to shoot.
The numbers don't match, as typical. The bluing is pretty, but the bore is dark. The stock was repaired, and finished in Russian Red shellac. This one has a really nice trigger pull and butter smooth action. Its only problem is accuracy. It shoots a 12"+ group at 50 yards. My guess is either the counterbore has a burr or the barrel is shot out. My money is on the barrel. If you have a spare Mosin Nagant barrel or want to try your hand at some gunsmithing, this is a very nice project. It also looks great collecting dust in a corner.
Serial numbers are:
Receiver: 1282576
Bolt: 4017512
Floor Plate: 1093087
Butt Plate: 400041
