This is a stunning hunting rifle. It is built on a prewar Mauser 98 action mated to a premium heavy contour sporting barrel and an immaculately inletted, nicely figured, classically shaped walnut stock with ebony forend and grip cap. Chambered in the highly acclaimed .375 Whelen Improved (.375-06 Improved) cartridge, this controlled feed action is suitable for dangerous game anywhere on the planet pushing a 300-grain bullet at 2500 fps, with 4165ft/lbs. muzzle energy, AN AMAZING 2860 FT./LBS. ENERGY AT 300 YARDS, AND A BULLET DROP OF ONLY 9.5” WITH A ZERO OF 2.5” HIGH AT 100 YARDS! What a great elk cartridge for North America or an African plains and dangerous game combination gun. Study the ballistics with lighter bullets and you will see the versatility of this cartridge. The action is polished and silky smooth and the Timney adjustable trigger breaks crisply at 2.5lbs. (we can adjust it to suit your needs). The 24” barrel has a mirror perfect bore, crisp rifling, NEW ENGLAND CUSTOM GUN banded ramp front sight, recessed crown, banded front sling swivel mount, and Talley Quick Detach scope mount that allows for remove and reinstall of the scope with perfect return to zero every time. All this exquisite workmanship is fitted to a wonderful piece of Walnut, displaying strong mineral grain front to rear and perfect layout for heavy recoil. There are functional internal recoil lugs, and the action is glass beaded for further accuracy and strength. The stock has a tear drop cheek piece that uniquely runs into the pistol grip, hand cut checkering, an inletted rear sling swivel mount, and ebony forend and grip cap. The Pachmayr Decelerator pad will mitigate recoil with heavy bullets and hot loads. Rarely do such well-made and classically beautiful rifles come up for sale, and almost never in this well named .375 wildcat caliber. The Redding loading dies come with the rifle. The rifle is mounted with Talley precision quick detach bases and 1” rings. The scope mounted on the rifle is a high quality Leupold Vari-X III in 1.5-5x scope. THE SCOPE AND RINGS ARE NOT PRICED IN THE PACKAGE, BUT CAN BE PURCHASED FOR AN ADDED $200. IF YOU DON’T WANT THE SCOPE AND RINGS, YOU CAN BUY THE RIFLE WITHOUT THEM. Don’t let this one get away! It is priced to sell and will make a great large North American game rifle or a perfect multi-purpose rifle on your next trip abroad.
