Marlin Model 93 / 1905 date

Marlin Safety, Model 93, 20 inch barrel, 30-30 caliber, serial # 6741,, Special Smokeless Steel stamped on barrel, barrel rifling is sharp and crisp looking with some miner pitting on the flats,, all action parts are tight and smooth, and still a good shooter. This gun has been listed for a while as an 1884 made date. we entered in a search location for Marlin and that is what came back. A lot more research shows the serial number was used a 2nd time in 1905. The 1884 dated gun was a 45/70 and the 1905 was 30-30. The second run of serial numbers started when they started the model 93 in 1905 with 4 digit serial numbers and ran to 1914 with 6 digit serial numbers when they quit putting smokeless steal stamp on the barrels in 1914.
