This listing is for the exact rifle in the photos. Mossberg’s original 800 series rifles earned our respect in the 1970s. After a 40 year absence, Mossberg reentered the High Powered Rifle market with their ATR and 4x4 rifles in 2007. This is Mossberg’s Trophy variant of its 100 ATR, All Terrain Rifle series. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg of New Haven, CT, with facilities in Eagle Pass, TX. Factory number was 27010 or thereabouts. Type is bolt action high powered center fire rifle. Barrel is 22 inch free floating with 6 groove 1:10 button rifling and counterbore recessed muzzle. Receiver is matching short action, furnished with Weaver 51 and #36 Scope Mount Bases that measure only 3 1/2 inches between their closest slot centers. Bolt is white steel body, with matte blue face assembly, handle, and cowl. Safety is forward type, very quiet, and mounted on the right side behind the bolt handle. Trigger is Mossberg’s LBA Lightning Bolt Action accu trigger, factory set on 3 pound vicinity and with minimal felt creep. Stock is American Hardwood, with cut checkering on the forend and pistol grip areas; Monte Carlo comb and blue steel sling swivel studs. One piece stocks like this one with no magazine cut are considerably stronger than BDL type stocks. Magazine is internal, and holds 4 rounds of .308 Winchester caliber ammunition, 4+1 total capacity. Length of pull is 13 1/4 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 3/4 inch decelerator type factory recoil pad. Weight empty is 6 pounds 9 ounces, with center of gravity at the stock bolt. Finish is matte blue barrel, action, and bolt body; satin semi gloss stock, and white steel bolt body. This specimen comes to us from Mossberg’s distribution system. It likely served as a showgirl with Mossberg’s reps and writers. We call it a factory demo. Surface detractions are minimal, really no more operation streaking and faint edge whitening than what one sees on many new display guns in stores. It comes in a relabeled factory box with lock and instruction manual that contains Mossberg’s warranty statement. If it was fired at all, we estimate it was fewer than 50 to 100 times. No more than 1 in 5 of its mates left any green copper on our cleaning patches.
