This is Mossberg’s 500 Zombie Persuader 8 Shot 12 gauge in matte black finish, a now discontinued special edition tip of the hat to AMC’s series The Walking Dead. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Construction is steel barrel, heat shield, magazine tube, double slide bars and complete forend structure, bolt, internal parts and trigger built into an alloy receiver. Outer forend, heat shield, pistol grip, safety button, and trigger group housing are high impact polymer. Caliber chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Barrel is 20 inch Cylinder Bore, .725 vicinity muzzle diameter, with traditional hex base brass bead front sight. Like all 12 gauge 500s, this one’s receiver is 4 screw drilled for a Weaver 82 or 417S, or similar rail for receiver mounted optics or lights. Heat shield is Masen Co. black polymer, vented trench gun type. Magazine holds 7 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells, or 6 rounds of 3 inchers, so fully loaded capacity on 2 3/4 inch is 7 + 1. Safety is steel base polymer top tang mounted. Trigger pull is two stage 5 1/2 pound vicinity with minimal felt creep. Forend is serrated corn cob type; with full length steel housing underneath it. Buttstock is standard black synthetic, 1.5 x 2.5 drop with 3/4 inch right hand cant. Length of pull measures 14 1/2 inches from the .275 smooth steel trigger face to the end of the 1 inch recoil pad. Buttstock has a steel QD sling stud, barrel lug cap is drilled for one but not included. We will be happy to sub an original factory Cruiser Grip for the buttstock, or add $25 if you want both.
