Here is a great buy on the traditional, attractive model 535 All Purpose 12 gauge pump chambered for 3 1/2 inch magnum shells. Mossberg labels its smaller gauge siblings Crown Grade. We bought this shotgun and its mates in combo packages at a deal. Manufacturer and warrantor is O.F. Mossberg & Sons of New Haven, CT, and Eagle Pass, TX. Type is pump or slide action shotgun with double steel slide bars. Construction is steel barrel, magazine tube, bolt, trigger and internal parts all built into an alloy receiver, with polymer top tang safety and trigger group housing. Forend and Buttstock are cut checkered, semi gloss finish American hardwood. Finish is blue steel barrel, black semi gloss anodized receiver, gold plated trigger, and chrome plated bolt and shell carrier. Chambering is 12 gauge, for 2 3/4 inch or 3 inch or 3 1/2 inch shells interchangeably. Barrel is 28 inch with 12 post .375 serrated top Ventilated Rib 1/4 inch high at the lug, with White Polymer front bead sight and smaller brass midsection alignment bead. This shotgun comes with a total of 3 choke tubes and wrench: One .700 Full, a .710 vicinity Modified, and .720 vicinity Improved Cylinder Choke Tubes. The 535’s barrel is not back bored like the 835, so it will handle rifled slugs well with an improved cylinder choke. Accu-choke threads on the 535s are the same as old style Winchester Win-Choke and old style Browning Invector. Magazine capacity is 5 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells, or 4 rounds of 3 inch shells, or 3 rounds of 3 1/2 inch with the wood adapter or plug removed from the magazine tube. Weight empty is 7 1/2 pounds, with center of gravity about 1 inch forward of the receiver. Buttstock measures 13 7/8 inches from the trigger face to the end of the 7/8 inch brown rubber factory recoil pad. Stock drop is 1 1/2 inches at the comb, and 2 1/2 inches at the butt, with a right hand cant of about 3/4 inch. Each model 535 comes in its Mossberg Factory Box with factory lock, instruction manual, NSSF and NRA flyers. The manual includes Mossberg’s 10 year warranty statement.
