The Kimber Solo was the company's first and only striker fired pistol. Production ran from 2012 until 2016. From this one's S1116000 range serial number, it is First Year, 2012 production. Construction is steel slide assembly, barrel, sights, levers, screws, trigger, and internal parts assembled into a lightweight alloy frame, with steel bodied magazines. Barrel is 2.7 inch medium Detonics type stainless, with indicator port over the hood, and with six groove left hand 1:10 rifling. Sights are black steel dovetailed front and rear, 3 white dot configuration. They are drift adjustable only for windage. Sight radius is 4 1/2 inches. Guide rod is Detonics or Officer style two piece steel retractable. Frame affords 3.27 inches of uninterrupted slide rails. Slide is laterally serrated on its rear, and requires about 25 pounds of pressure to rack. Disassembly is easy and simple, requires a trigger pull and the correct position. Trigger sear resets upon cycling. Trigger is .250 smooth faced stainless, pulls at 5 1/2 pounds over 1/2 inch pull, with minimal overtravel. Magazine release is fully ambidextrous, with 15 to 20 pounds of release pressure required. Magazines are factory Kimber folded stainless steel 6 rounders, manufactured by subcontractor Check-Mate. Each holds 6 rounds of 9mm Luger caliber ammunition, so 6 + 1 fully loaded capacity. Factory specifies premium hollow point cartridges with 124 grain to 147 grain bullets, specifically TAP, Golden Saber, or Hydra Shok. Safety system includes a firing pin / striker safety and a low profile ambidextrous lever safety. Overall length is 5 1/2 inches, by 4 inches height. Grip thickness is .982 at center. Weight empty is 26 ounces, centered at the breech face. Finish is matte stainless slide assembly, with Kimpro coating finish frame and levers.
