Seller Description
Custom BRNO ZKK 602 (post pop-up peep sight model) in .458 Lott by Lon Paul of Tanglewood Guns for Joe Coogan who used it as his primary stopping rifle during his final two seasons as a PH in Tanzania. After leaving Tanzania, Joe went on to become the Brand Marketing Manager for Benelli USA and host of Benelli’s TV show, Benelli On Assignment. Originally a .375 H&H, Coogan purchased this rifle and turned it over to Paul in 1992 as the basis for an article he was preparing for Petersen Publishing entitled "The Ultimate .375". Paul re-cut the stock to the classic Rigby look/feel/fit and then finished it in hand-rubbed oil. He also straightened the bolt handle, added a Model 70-type wing safety, barrel band sling swivel stud and barrel band front sight. Paul polished the action until it runs like "oiled glass", according to Coogan. Magazine capacity is 5 + 1. An interesting side note is that Paul used Jack Lott's original reamers to rechamber a CZ .458 Win. Mag. barrel (in 2002) to .458 Lott and then fitted it to this rifle. Even though Coogan used the rifle for PH duty and hunted with it afterward in other African countries, it remains in approximately 95% condition. Purchaser will be provided with a digital copy of the 1993 article as well as a personalized letter from Coogan detailing the history of the rifle. Photo package by request.
