J Cooper Remington Percussion Rifle .44 Back Action Lock

J Cooper Percussion Long Rifle, caliber .44 in ' Light Hawken ' style 36 inch octagon barrel, 51 1/2 inches overall length. 8 1/2 Lbs. Stocked in solid straight grained walnut. Brass buttplate and trigger guard, with nickel silver forend cap. Brass rod ferrules. Back-Action Lock engraved with floral designs & avian depiction, inscribed J COOPER. Barrel marked " REMINGTON " at breech, lettered in crescent outline. Top flat of barrel behind rear sight inscribed " S : R " ( letters separated by three vertical dots ). 2nd rear sight dovetail, now empty, 2 " ahead of existing rear sight. Eight Groove Barrel measures just over .40 across the lands, aprox. .429 - .435 across the grooves. Trigger functions properly, hammer comes back but only remains at half cock.
