Ithaca .22 LR M-49 Saddlegun Single Shot VG-Exc ca. 1963-1964 Blond Walnut Model 49

LG3056 Serial number is quite low on this Ithaca model 49 Saddlegun, 149000 range. Its walnut stock and forend are original, but they are early smooth glossy finished, not press-checkered like the 1970s variants. The 49 Saddle Gun was only cosmetically similar to its much pricier repeating counterparts manufactured first by Erma, then by Ithaca, and now by Henry Repeating Arms. Action is Martini type. The magazine tube is non-functional but esthetically pleasing, and this little rifle looks very similar to a miniature 1873 Winchester. That was the marketers’ intent anyway. This little Ithaca comes to us from a good home in Knox County Tennessee, and its surface wear is only moderte. There are grayed areas on the barrel / front sight band, and grayed receiver scours on some of that area’s sharp edges. Wood scouring is minimal. We rate this M-49 as Very Good 80 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Permanent sling swivels are period correct, and their white spacers show no age wear. Walnut stock and forend are very nicely fiddleback figured, with extensive loss to the original glossy finish but little scouring or scratching. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Barrel measures 16 3/4 inches, and the buttstock length of pull measures 13 1/2 inches.
