Seller Description
Since the Remington 870 was introduced in 1950, its patent expired long ago, hence this well made Asian tribute to the Wingmaster. Manufacturer is Qiqihar Hawk Industries Co. Ltd. of Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, Mrs. Robertson's home state. Importer and warrantor is Interstate Arms of Billerica, Massachusetts. Type is slide or pump action shotgun, a descendant of John M. Browning's models of 1912 and 1917. Construction is steel barrel, bolt, receiver, carrier, springs, trigger, hammer, and internal parts, with black polymer trigger housing, front magazine spring detent, orange polymer shell follower, and with graphite based polymer stock and forend. Chambering is 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells interchangeably. Barrel is 28 inch Rem-Choke threaded, furnished with a .7105 modified stainless choke tube. Bore is Not back bored, so the modified tube will serve well with any kind of shot, not optimal for rifled slugs. Additional replacement Rem Chokes are available from us and our distinguished colleagues throughout the country. Sight system is a 12 post, .316 wide serrated Ventilated Rib that sits .0185 above the barrel at the lug. Front sight is a conventional .156 brass bead that mates with the receiver's serrated top. Magazine tube is 15 inches, longer than the original 870 so capacity is five 2 3/4 inch shells, or four 3 inch shells without any 2 shot adapter or plug. A two shot adapter should be seven inches, and longer than a standard Remington adapter, to be legal for migratory birds. Magazine threads are the same as Remington, so this shotgun will accept any tube mounted light or laser device designed for an 870 or 1100. Trigger is .219 smooth faced steel, pulls single stage at 6 pounds vicinity with moderate felt creep but minimal overtravel. Safety is right hand shooter, mounted behind the trigger, and gunsmith reversible. Forend is semi beavertail with fluted checkered surface laterals. Slide assembly is double welded steel. Buttstock is matching black polymer with checkered laterals on the pistol grip or wrist area. Buttstock drop is optics friendly 1 3/4 inches at comb, and 3 inches at the heel for headsup shooting, with a 1 inch right hand cast. Length of pull is 13 3/4 inches with a 1 inch black rubber recoil pad. Buttstock has an integral brass female sling stud escutcheon, and the forend is center drilled for stud bolts. Weight empty is a hefty 8 pounds 9 ounces with center of gravity 1 inch forward of the breech face. Overall length is 48 inches. Finish is matte surface blued, wih black synthetic and glossy finished shell carrier and magazine cap. Each 981 Hawk comes in its factory box with protective wrapper, dessicant, and owners manual with Interstate Arms consumer service procedures. The shotguns ship well protected in styrofoam, but with outer flimsy cardboard boxes that are often the worse for wear. Replacement pricing was $309 on iacshotguns com. We’re offering the 982 Hawk 12 gauge in the photos, however, or one of its identical mates, each for only $ 159.00. Any ammunition or personnel in photos are Not included.
