his beautiful German Haenel Aydt schuetzen style rifle is in 8.15 x 46R, has a perfect double set trigger, with a 31 3/4” bbl & an OAL of 48” weighing 12lb 9oz. #88xx c. 1915.
The receiver is engraved with a cherub on the right and floral pattern on the left. The barrel is octogonal and fluted with the sight groove for a claw mount. The stock has a moderate floral scroll relief carving and a blued hook buttplate. Stock and forearm are in very good condition; scratched but, no breaks or cracks. barrel is in excellent condition, Metal is in very good condition. 90% overall.
Includes Tang mounted peep sight with key. CH4D brand reloading die set. 88 empty brass cases (appear to be formed from .30-30 Win, with 80 unfired & 8 once used) comes in plastic hardside case and dividers for accessories.
Pricing these rifles is difficult as there are so few on the market particularly factoring level of finish and condition. I searched all the major auction houses and found a few to use as comps. A lot are either more utilitarian &/or in poor condition (particularly missing sights) or pristine museum pieces. This is an exceptional piece of art that you can still proudly take to the range.
