From the estate of a career Memphis Firefighter comes this very attractive Harrington & Richardson Huntsman percussion rifle. From its AL serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 1973 in Gardner, Massachusetts. Barrel is 28 inch six groove with 1:56 rifling, shaded toward round ball performance. Type is break open single shot muzzleloader with breech plug and firing pin ignition system that uses #11 percussion caps. Caliber is .45 Black Powder. Construction is blued steel barrel and parts with case colored steel receiver, and dark stained hardwood stock and forend. Forend band, spacer, and trigger guard are glossy black polymer and original as well. Ramrod is H&R’s unique retractable brass with walnut handle, and it is original. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, only occasional finish freckling on the blued surfaces and edge wear to the wood. We rate this Huntsman as Very Good, 80 to 85 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore and rifling is clean and sharp. Our fireman kept his guns clean where it counts. This piece is eminently serviceable, but it is also a prized collector piece.
