Flintlock Jager Italy Kentuckian .50 VG mfg 1969

Here is a prize from an estate in South Mississippi, an excellent quality Kentucky type rifle manufactured by the prestigious Armi Jager Company in Italy and imported by a firm known as Intercontinental Arms during the Nixon Years. Date Code is XXV, manufactured in President Nixon’s Inaugural Year of 1969. Stock is Italian Walnut, and finish is blue steel with authentic casehardened hammer, lock and trigger. Furniture, of course, is Brass. Barrel is .50 caliber, probably 1:60 twist, 35 inches overall length and 36 1/2 inches from muzzle to the tail of the integral tang. Sights are blue steel primitive rear and entirely brass primitive front sight. We detect no evidence that the sights have been altered at all. Lock and frizzen assembly are Very Good, with a mixture of casehardening and brown, with superficial pitting here and there on the flint holder and frizzen. Barreh exhibits spotty toning, perhaps with negligible superficial pitting on the rear area next to the tang and serial number. Barrel surface otherwise exhibits only minimal spotting and scouring here and there. Buttstock is Very Good, with moderate scouring and one surface chip over the center retaining pin on the left side. Ramrod is CVA fiberglass replacement, best for shooting and not too bad on looks. Bore exhibits browning from our inspection, but any pitting appears to be superficial, nothing drastic. We rate this Jager .50 Kentuckian Flintlock as Very Good, but photos should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves.
