F.I.E. Brazil SB-40 Single Shot 12 ga 28 Full 2 3/4 in VG ca. 1978

Here is a specimen of one of the best performing and best looking single shots ever imported, the F.I.E. model SB-40, manufactured in Brazil by Compania Brasileira de Cartouchos, CBC Company, a manufacturer of integrity who brought us the highly prized Nylon 66 lookalikes. Several hundred thousand of these single shots were imported from the 1960s until the late 1980s. Some even bore the Remington name. This one is 28 inch plain beadsight blue steel barrel, 2 3/4 inch chamber, full choke with brushed blue steel receiver, hammer, and trigger. The forend spacer is white line black polymer, as is the trigger guard and release lever, conveniently mounted on the front of the guard. The prize portion of this single shot, however, is the Brazilian Goncalo wide beavertail forend and buttstock that extends 13 7/8 inches behind the trigger at the buttplate. This specimen comes to us from a Hardin-McNairy County trading family, and it has taken its share of hillbilly and swamp rabbits in the Tennessee River Valley since it was sold new around 1978, from its 791,000 range serial number. Handling wear is moderate. We rate it as Very Good finishwise, one lateral hairline crack in the upper tang and one in the forend, neither of which show any separation. It is Excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent.
