Seller Description
This is an Erma .25 Automatic pistol that comes to us from a New England collection. Model is EP25, but it is a close copy to the Ortgies model, named after its inventor George Ortgies, manufactured in Erfurt, Germany but discontinued in 1924. The most infamous Ortgies was owned by Eva Braun, engraved with her name, and presented to her by Adolph Hitler. Manufacturer Erma Werke revived in the same city, and with much of the same machinery, in 1952. From this EP25’s 02000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1967. Date codes are not legible. Type is striker fired, blowback action pocket pistol. Construction is principally zinc alloy / zamak, with steel barrel, disassembly apparatus, firing pin, springs, internal parts, and magazine. Finish is semi gloss anodized. Chambering is .25 ACP caliber. Barrel is 2 5/8 inch with 1:16 six groove right hand rifling. Sights are slide integral blade front, with raised fixed blade rear. Disassembly is drop plunger type, with extensions on either side of the trigger area. Trigger is .225 smooth face, and pulls at a crisp 3 pounds. Safety is left side frame mounted forward lever type, not southpaw friendly. Grips are German Walnut, with the Erma logo medallion embedded on each panel. Magazine is steel body, spring, and cartridge follower with zamak floorplate, ported for round count, and holds 7 rounds of .25 ACP ammunition, so 7+1 fully loaded capacity. Weight empty is 13 1/2 ounces with center of gravity 1/2 inch back of the breech face. Overall length is 5 3/8 inches, 3 5/16 height from the top of the rear sight to the bottom of the mag floorplate. Slide thickness is .720 inch at the port. Finish is Duracoat Refinish, similar to the original satin black. Surface detractions on this Erma are moderate principally residual pitting on the left side of the slide’s edges and at the frame butt left side. We rate it as Very Good Refinish, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We test fired it with 5 rounds of Fiocchi, no problems. One of the Ortgies ancestors to this copy, not included but shown in two of our photos, fetched $54,000 in a 2012 auction. We’re offering the Erma EP25 descendant in the photos, however, for only $ 119.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California, District of Colombia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, or any jurisdiction with a Melt Law or Approved Firearms Roster. Transferable to Illinois Civilians because manufactured prior to the 1973 Melt Law; IL transfer dealer must be willing to transfer, however. Any ammunition or personnel in our photos are Not included. Add a Galco Deep Cover IWB holster for $11.00 and no extra shipping.
