Description Up for auction is a handsome Colt "peacemaker" 45 cal. 6-shot revolver in blued finish with original wood grips and 7-1/2 in cavalry length barrel. It includes an authentication document written BY THE COLT FACTORY. Includes two independent expert evaluation letters Copies of the documents are available upon request.

Colt Single Action "U.S. Cavalry", very early Custer Era Ainsworth #4571. 45 cal. 7-1/2" barrel. mech. & mkgs exc. crisp and tight., exc. bore, exc. sight & screws, sharp edges, clear "US", "A" & "P" mkgs. exc. wood grips with clear cartouche, minor corner rounding, bright blue/grey smooth metal, no pitting, #4571, matching bbl. & cyl., o/a exc. & solid. The gun has had some restoration. It was a gun turned in as a Cavalry & reissued as an Artillary in 1896. It was also reshipped as an Artillary a second time in 1903. These two dates are born out by the Colt Factory letter on the gun. A descriptive listing from a Douglas R. Carlson auction in 1987 and a letter from John A. Kopec, an expert which further documents the guns authenticity and condition. Bid with confidence on this rare, well documented piece of old west history.
