Colt SP1 Manuf. 1971 (R6000) AR15 Sporter .223/5.56

Colt AR-15 SP1, serial number SP18135, made in 1971. This gun is very similar in appearance and function to the M16 rifles used in Vietnam at the time this commercial semi-auto model was made. Caliber is .223/5.56 NATO. The SP1 has a 20 inch barrel, A1 sights, carry handle, bayonet lug, A1 flash hider, no forward assist. It has a fixed pistol grip stock with triangular handguards. Trap door style buttplate. The gun is stamped with the Colt logo on the left side of the receiver and reads: "COLT AR-15" "CAL. .223", "MODEL SP1" "SER. SP18135". The receiver is also stamped "COLT'S PATENT FIREARMS MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A." The barrel is stamped "C MP. CHROME BORE". There is a small proofmark on the right side of the upper near the ejection port, it is faint but looks like a "C" in a box. This SP1 is in very good used condition. There are some light scratches on the metal, and a fair amount of scratches and wear marks on the stock and handguards. The bore is bright and shiny. The gun has been test fired and functions perfectly. One 20 round Colt magazine is included. Colt lettering/logo on the bottom of the mag is worn but still visible. No box or papers, no sling.
