Seller Description
Burnside .54 caliber carbine formerly displayed in the Conrad Mansion museum in Kalispell, Montana. Serial number 16973 is a fifth version (or fourth version, second generation) that features a 21-inch round barrel with flip-up rear sight and saddle ring. MARKINGS: "1" on rear sight blade, "3" and "5" on flip-up sight face, "W" on the left side of the rear sight base, what appears to be a "B" between rear sight and action, serial (2x) on the top of the action, along with "Burnside Patent Model of 1864", "Burnside Rifle Co., Providence RI" on right side of action side plate, "OBG" on right lever, "B" on ring bar, "W" on left side of action above front end of ring bar, "H" on left side of opening lever, ""P" on front of trigger guard loop base, "R" (2x) visible on left side of lever when open, and "H" on rear sling loop base. Wood appears to be marked with a "Z" just under tip of lower tang. CONDITION: Bore is wonderfully bright and shiny. Metal surfaces have pleasantly browned. Portions of lever, action bottom and lower tang exhibit roughness from cleaning. Wood integrity is very good, with surface sanded and refinished. The price is firm and layaway is available. A comprehensive photo package is available by request (include direct email address with request).
