Manufacturer was Borg-Warner Corporation of Auburn Hills, MI, under contract to the United States Government. The two dozen we got from a California Collection near the San Diego Naval Base were all marked, however dimly, and upside down or canted, BRW / S-1 on the back plate. Construction is folded steel body with the required twelve evenly spaced welds on the body front, and single weld to the right of the guide slot. Spring, floor plate, and cartridge follower are all steel. Back wall thickness ranged from .320 to .345. Finish is dark manganese phosphate. Each magazine holds 20 rounds of .308 Winchester, or 7.62x51 NATO Ammunition. These magazines have moderate amounts of contact wear, as the photos show. We rate them as Very Good, close to Excellent, 80 to 85 percent vicinity by our estimate. Spring strength is excellent, because they have sat up all this time empty.
