Seller Description
Beaumont-Adams, 54 bore (about .442 caliber), 5-shot double action percussion revolver. Octagonal barrel measures 7 inches. Serial number R 16021. Barrel stamped Robert Adams, 76 King William Street, London. Also on barrel: L.A.C (London Armoury Company , Crown CP proof, and Crown V inspector view mark - also on cylinder. Right side of frame marked Adams Patent No. 31601. Overall no finish, but minimal pitting. Loading lever missing. Hammer/trigger link needs repaired. Also part of the sale: I purchased new nipples and a hammer from England (looks like they sent the wrong hammer), a natural fiber lanyard, and a custom made holster. Serial number 4682 and what looks like an "H".
This five shot, self-cocking revolver was invented by the Englishman Robert Adams. At the time of the weapon's initial creation, he was manager for the London House of George & John Deane. This company was well respected in the trade, but it was the Great Exhibition of 1851 which brought Adam's invention to prominence. The firearm won a prize medal in the category of double and single guns and pistols properly finished.
