Balkan Rat Tail Miquelet Pistol

Very unusual rat tail pistol. c 1800-1820? made in Balkans. Miquelet lock. Unusually long (19"), and better than usual quality. Faint makers mark on lock. Engraving on iron parts as well as on brass sheathed stock. Barrel has been reinforced - this is NOT a repair, as original barrel band is perfect - with two copper strands over a leather base, expertly done. I'm guessing that owner was worried about barrel movement on firing, given the long length. Shows this was a working pistol, not just a sash ornament! Also the tip of the butt can be withdrawn and holds a vent pricker. I have never seen this feature on another Balkan rat tail. I have several more photos - email if interested.
