Here is an excellent quality, authentically styled Connecticut Valley Arms import revolver manufactured by Pietta of Italy in 2001 from its BP date code. This is a copy, of course, of the 1851 Colt Navy Reb, like the real Confederate Revolvers. It is a .44 Caliber Percussion Revolver, 7 1/2 inch barrel, brass frame and trigger guard with steel cylinder, barrel assembly, and parts. It is excellent mechanically. The action times correctly on all six positions. Surface rust to the nipples, cylinder chambers and bore are minimal, with no pronounced pitting anywhere. Its finish is excellent with no surface detractions other than minimal cylinder rotation marking and a small moderate impress on the right grip panel that does not penetrate its glossy finish. Frame assembly is, as the photos show, solid brass with the CVA logo on the right side. Bluing is strong and excellent on the screws, engraved cylinder, and barrel. Color casehardened finish on the trigger, hammer, and lever rod is also full strength and excellent. These are very popular with our Tennessippi Civil War reenactors, and the .44 produces maximum theatrical effect with blank charges.
