Seller Description
The .358 Shooting Times Alaskan (STA) cartridge was designed by Layne Simpson. It is formed by necking up or down any full-length case and then fire-forming in the chamber of the rifle. I have been using .416 Remington Magnum cases.
The average velocity potential from this rifle rifle is as follows:
180-grain bullet 3300 to 3400 fps
200-grain bullet 3200 to 3300 fps
225-grain bullet 3100 to 3200 fps
250-grain bullet 2900 to 3000 fps
275-grain bullet 2700 to 2800 fps
300-grain bullet 2600 to 2700 fps
The rifle weighs approximately 9 pounds with the Leupold Vari-X III 3.5 x 10x 40mm scope. The Lilja barrel is 24 inches long with a 1:12 twist. The barrel has been Mag-Na-Ported. The right-handed action is a Sako AV Bolt action. The MacMillan fiberglass stock has been painted “False Granite” and has a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad.

41 – cartridges loaded with 250 grain .358 Speer Grand Slam bullets. FOR HUNTING PURPOSES. These handloads were developed especially for this rifle using 86 grains of IMR 4831 and a Federal 215 Primer.
27 – cartridges loaded with 250 grain .358 Nosler Partition bullets. FOR HUNTING PURPOSES.
22 – cartridges loaded with 200 grain .358 Hornady Spire Point bullets. REDUCED LOADS FOR FIRE-FORMING PURPOSES.
5 – cartridges loaded with 200 grain .358 Barnes X bullets. REDUCED LOADS FOR FIRE FORMING PURPOSES.
7 – Fire-formed .416 Remington Magnum Brass cases.
