The carbine is nice, very very nice, I would rate the condition as 95-98% blue, laminated wood, varnish. Considering that their may be as few a 25 North Korean variations in the United States and many are rough, the carbine is great, not perfect. The carbine has all matching numbers, bayonet, cleaning rod, correct gas shut off valve on right side forward of the hand sale will include notarized documentation as to the soldier that brought the carbine into the country at the end of his Vietnam purchase will be carefully packaged and shipped prepaid to your FFL after payment has cleared my bank. I hate to sell this but need money to buy a vehicle. This is a once in a life time opportunity.
The letters after the 63 are the Korean word "sik", meaning "type", so that makes the rifle a "Type 63". Korean pronunciation is "yook ship sam (the Korean a is pronounced like a in father) sik (actually pronounced more like shik). The Korean letter that looks sort of like a backwards S is an R, followed by the Korean letter letter after the serial number that looks like a square C is the Korean letter D.
The rear sight is marked differently and of course the circle with the Star on the top of the receiver with the Korean writing for (Type 63) which means that it was adopted in 1963. These rifles were never imported into the USA
