Description: Fine example of an early well-made Arisaka Type 38 Training Rifle with great markings.

Scarce specimen features cartouche w Japanese Kanji characters and large numeral 8 inventory number on buttstock. Kanji translate to : sakataseikou, bandaseikou / bandenseikou bandenaokou / bandaaokou . Believe to be school or place names.

Matching two-digit serial numbers on receiver and bolt, bolt end cap, and bayonet lug.

Designed for service rifle familiarization with blank or dummy ctg.s only. NOT intended or safe with live ammunition. Smooth bore.

Manufactured before Pearl Harbor -- better finished than many late war period ' Last Ditch' arms intended for action against the enemy.

Stock has assorted handling marks, scuffs & dings, but is overall in fine shape with no cracks or chips.

Bluing is largely intact, aprox 93-95 %. Unfinished metal showing some discoloration, easily cleaned at buyer discretion.
