Up for auction is a very cool--and not so easy to find--AK-47 in the NATO 5.56x.45 caliber. (Will also fire the .223 Remington.) The rifle comes complete with 3x9 variable power scope on a Russian-style side-rail mount; muzzle brake; cleaning rod, extended charging handle, sling, original 30-round bakelite magazine. The nice thing about the AK in this caliber is that it can fire the steel cased ammo, unlike the AR-15 which requires brass cased ammo. This rifle is made by the Cugir factory in Romania (where many of the contract AK-47's for the Middle East conflict are made). Although it was imported by Century Arms, it is not a surplus parts kit rebuild. Front sight is in line with rear sight; rivets are all nicely mushroomed and tight; magazine fits snugly with very little movement; scope mount is the quick-release style. This is possibly one of the most desirable models of the AK because it shoots the ubiquitous 5.56 x .45 NATO round, as well as the inexpensive .223, both in steel case. This is a very sweet package because of the light recoiling NATO round paired with an excellent muzzle brake that practically eliminates felt recoil.
