Garner Plains Rifle Marked J.M Garner on top of the barrel, 50 cal Bore VG plus with strong rifling, Mech VG plus, Set triggers, Wood VG plus but has a thin line crack on the left side , and a short crack ahead of the lockplate but it is solid and strong. Has a 36 ¼ “ long heavy Oct underribbed barrel with original sights and marked J M Garner on top of the barrel and & Co Dayton.O on the 2 dovetails at the muzzle . The Lockplate is marked & Co Cincinnati O with engraved game scene. The top tang is also engraved . Has a brass crecent buttplate,toeplate,triggerguard, ramrod guides and a pewter endcap. Metal overall has a dark aged brown patina finish with pitting in the nipple area. Has a wooden dowel ramrod. 12 pounds

Musket described as being of French manufacture by the seller, discovered upon arrival that the weapon was actually of Belgian manufacture based on proof marks and stock cartouch. This misidentification should have been avoided with very basic and quick research.
