This Buck M9 USMC bayonet is one of 5000 units which were the only bayonets manufactured 100% by Buck (without Phrobis).
These bayonets were produced in 1991 under military contract for the 2nd Marine Division. The plus sign on the bayonet is the date code for 1991 manufacture.
These M9 bayonets feature a short threaded tang which projects through the crossguard along with a standard tang rod.
The bayonet is marked as follows: "M9-USMC BUCK + USA" on the left hand side of the blade.
The scabbard is marked HQ98.
This bayonet is a USMC issued bayonet, used and is in very good to excellent used condition. The blade shows minor wear and scratches from issue use (see pictures). The sharpening stone shows very minor use, but is intact with no cracks or breaks and is securely in place.
This multi-purpose weapon system functions as a bayonet, a combat knife, a field craft knife and a wire cutter. It features a 425 stainless steel hollow ground blade with a saw incorporated into the blade spine, a screw-driver point on the wire-cutting plate, and a bottle opener on either side of the handguard. The blade is glass-beaded to give it a dull, non-reflective finish. The scabbard comes with a sharpening stone and accessory pouch.
