Sadly, as sometimes happens we got stiffed! BUT - in the interim, we found several new assorted sight parts, and a nearly new Sourdough holster from Simply Rugged. We were going to throw them in on the other deal - we will throw them in on this one if you like! This is an interesting S&W M29 with 4" barrel. When it came to the shop it was almost a basket case! It was missing parts, had no grips, and had been painted by some dummy with a sort of black goo that took us a whole day to remove! We added a new Brown style cylinder latch for the missing original. I put on a set of pachmeyers we had here. The yolk screw was gone so we bought a new one and added that. And the front and rear sights had some of the usual wear/carry damage. We put on a black front and rear that we had in house. They are the proper heights. (We have the original front and rear if you want them too.) This gun was carried a lot as a duty gun for many years and it shows in places. There is some minor shallow pitting in the usual places on the muzzle, front of the cylinder, and on the left side. NONE of it is deep, and the gun would benefit from a nice trip to the blue shop. The action on this critter is EXCELLENT, it locks up tight with virtually no play. Barrel is bright and sharp. The trigger double and single is one of the very best i have EVER handled on a large frame smith! Once we had all the parts back on I tried it with 10.0 gr Unique, under a 250gr 429421 SWC, on Starline brass, CCI 300 primers- Three shot groups at 50 yards were 1.5 to 1.75" and velocity was 1150 fps - NOTHING wrong at all with the way it shoots! A little face lift and maybe a trip to the custom stock store and this could be a gem! I have a couple other pics i can e-mail if you need but the one with the add pretty well shows it all.
