Smith & Wesson's own self-awareness as the leading popular-priced firearms manufacturer gained expression in the late 1960s with presentation-cased regular production N-frame revolvers, but that practiced ended in the early 1980s with a period of deflation and stout competition from Sturm Ruger. Nowadays, those vintage 1970s boxes command premium prices in the $200 - $300 range, not a feasible investment for many proud owners of Smith & Wessons. Here is the factory's current offering to fill the void, a walnut stained, sturdy built hardwood case with classic navy blue velvet texture lining. This one is factory number 19251000, large revolver display case. It will hold up to a 10 5/8 inch Model 29 silhouette or even a 12 inch revolver, if the owner has one that long. Actually, these are more sturdy than the vintage originals. They have classic glossy Smith & Wesson finish, and come with brass furniture that includes a locking main hasp with two keys. Note the table-friendly felt corner pads on the bottom side. The 1977 Nickel 8 3/8 inch 29-2 is not, by the way, included.
