This is a classic Spanish Mauser M1893/95 Carbine that was converted by the Spanish at the Oviedo arsenal to a M1916. It has several marks and stamps but no crest, makers name or manufacture date. This gun is what's referrred to by collectors as an "unmarked M1916". Reportedly, less than 50,000 of these were made. All serial numbers are correct "OT" series 4-digit, except the bolt, which is "OT" series 5-digit. It has the nose cap, bent bolt handle, sling bar and front blade type sight. The front barrel band is screw-adjustable. The rear sight has been modified to accept a scope, however it could be returned to it's original "rollercoaster" configuation. No tap holes in the barrel or wood. It is chambered for the .308 Winchester or 7.62 NATO. Bore is clean and has good shine. Overall, it is in very good to good condition.
