MAX II) rifle that you don’t see very often. It is the official issue infantry rifle in the South Korean military. The caliber is .5.56 mm NATO or 223 Rem. The rifle is in about 99 % condition (fired approximately 300 rounds) with a few handling marks (barely visible). It’s inspection-ready clean. Above the magazine well on the left lower, it is stamped: “MADE IN KOREA 5.56MM K2”. This rifle is VERY rare. Most Daewoo rifles are marked either "AR100" (pre-ban folding stock model) or "DR200" (post-ban thumb hole stock model). This particular rifle is marked "K2" which is the official military designation in the South Korean military. AR100 and K2 are the same rifles, but the ones marked "K2" are even more difficult to find than the ones marked AR100 (import designation for the US market). Besides being fun to shoot, they are a good investment as no more will be coming into the country. Importation was discontinued in 1986. Daewoo rifles are very reliable and tough. This rifle’s design combines reliability of the AK gas/piston system with the AR-15/M-16 design. This is a paramilitary assault rifle with an 18” barrel, a flash suppressor, and a sturdy bayonet lug. It is gas piston operated with a rotating bolt. The rifle has a folding stock (best I’ve seen so far) and uses AR-15 magazines. It really is an interesting design that works quite well. In fact, I like this rifle so much that I actually own two. I’m selling one of them because I need some cash (got laid off).
