During the Cold War era they had contracts with the Soviet Union to produce AK-47s, the Russians got some money from the Egyptians, and in turn the Russians sent engineers to set-up and oversee the production process of the Ak-47s in Egypt. This is as close to real Russian made Ak-47s that you can get without having to drop $1800... Generally speaking in the world of AK-47s Russian made Ak-47s are the best and most sought after.
