Description:

This listing is for the exact revolver in the photos. Here is a very early Centennial Airweight, numbered model 42. From its extremely low, 27000 range serial number, it could very well have been part of the first year’s, 1952’s, production except that Smith & Wesson did not begin stamping model numbers until 1955. It has a 3 year dilemma, then, that only $100 worth of letter and patience will solve, and we’re too thrifty a bunch of Scotsmen to spend that. Type is pocket revolver. Construction is steel barrel, cylinder assembly, and internal parts in a lightweight alloy frame. Chambering is .38 Smith & Wesson Special, not designed for +P ammunition. Barrel is one piece steel 1 7/8 inch, nominally 2 inches, with 5 groove right hand 1:18.75 rifling. Sight system is integral blade front and fixed notch rear. Ignition is nose type internal hammer, with transfer bar internal safety system and with grip safety. Cylinder capacity is 5 rounds. Trigger is .237serrated face service type, with 12 pound vicinity pull. Grip frame is small round butt type. Grips are original magna type factory walnut. Note the later, 1960s production thumb latch. Weight empty is 15 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger, 17 ounce vicinity loaded. Maximum overall length is 6 1/4 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame curve; 4 1/4 inches high, and with a lateral thickness of only 1.3 inches. Finish is polished surface blued steel and gloss black anodized alloy. Surface detractions are moderate, principally finish freckles, edge wear, two contact areas on the side plate, and grip wear. We rate this model 42 as Very Good Condition, 75 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, mechanism, and cylinder chambers are all bright and clean. Cylinder times correctly in all five positions; and there is no lateral cylinder play with the trigger fully depressed. Carbon deposits on the top strap and cylinder face are minimal, so we do not believe this revolver was fired more than 50 times. It served security duty in the vicinity of Ramey Air Force Base, then Borinquen Air Station in the Caribbean, strategic point for monitoring Castro’s Cubans and drug traffickers from South and Central America. We’re offering the early Cold War Centennial in the photos for only $ 839.00. Transferable to California Civilians due to its 65+ year age, and federal Curio & Relic status. Not transferable to non-C&R Civilians in Massachusetts. >>> $20 USPS Priority Flat Rate Box with tracking, insurance, and Signature Confirmation. $60 UPS Second Day for direct to C&Rs.  >>> Registered user must be the actual buyer of the gun. >> 7 Day return privilege. We do not reimburse transfer fees or return shipping. >>> (California) WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
